The Community Room Gets a Glow-Up
After six weeks of paint, furniture, and one very ambitious mural, our main gathering space is back — warmer, brighter, and ready for spring programming.
By Margo Vega, Programming Director
It took six weeks, two rounds of paint swatches, and more furniture assembly than any of us signed up for, but the Community Room is back.
The renovation added a full wall mural by local artist Tess Fairweather — a sweeping sunset landscape in pinks, purples, and golds that gives the room a completely different feeling at night. We also brought in new upholstered seating, better overhead lighting on dimmers, and a proper sound system that doesn't feedback every time someone stands too close to the mic.
A few practical notes for members:
- Hours: The Community Room is available for drop-in use Wednesday – Sunday from 10am. Workshop bookings resume May 3.
- New layout: We added a small library nook along the south wall — a quiet corner with chairs, reading lamps, and a growing shelved collection of books available to borrow.
- Sound system: The new PA is live. If you're hosting a workshop or open mic, check in with the front desk for a quick walkthrough before your event.
Thank you to everyone who rearranged their schedules during the closure, and an especially big thank-you to the members who volunteered two Saturdays of their time to help with the paint. That's the stuff that makes this a club and not just a venue.
See you in the room.
